Browar Funky Fluid is one of Poland's new wave of craft breweries. It was started in 2018 by Michal Langier, Karol Mizielski and Grzegorz Korcz.
While officially based in Warsaw, they are self-proclaimed gypsy brewers, brewing their beers at five different breweries depending on style. And from the start they hit the ground running, being voted Ratebeer's '3rd Best New Brewery in the World 2019'.
They have remained one of Poland's highest rated breweries, and recently announced they've purchased a site neat Warsaw that will see them commence building their own permanent facility later this year.
They make all styles of beer, but their main focus is on three areas: 'powerfuly hopped IPA's, fruit-loaded sours and imperial stouts'. It is their 'Gelato' series of fruited sours that have attracted most of the attention, and for good reason.
They basically come in three tiers: the first tier is around 5.5% with loads of real fruits, the second is higher in ABV at around 7-7.5% thicker in the mouthfeel and with even more fruit.
But it is the 'EXTREME' range that people are losing their minds over. All 8% ABV, super-thick smoothie sours with so much fruit that they must almost tick off a percentage of your daily serves of fruit. The colours are amazing, and the texture is so thick you understand ehy they are called 'gelatos'.
Being gypsy brewers, Funky Fluid has done lots of collab's with some of Europe's best breweries. They've even done a collaborative beer with Sydney's One Drop Brewing Co (and we have the beer in this shipment).
I had first contacted Funky Fluid back in 2022 wanting their beers, so I was thrilled when Grzegorz confirmed last year that we could order some of their amazing beers. I can forsee that Funky Fluid will be regulars in our shipping schedule for a good while to come!
