From requests for extras of the previous Tre Caraterri beers, it seems many of you have enjoyed this little taste of Sicily we’ve recently included in the packs.  So I thought why not try the third of their beers, even though it isn’t the type of beer I’d normally include.

Here we have their Session IPA.  For the Untappd users in our group, you’ll find this beer under its previous name of ‘53x11’, which apparently is a reference to a heavy gear ratio used in cycling.  (Nope, me either!)

So this is a new batch of the beer, with a slightly more descriptive name.  The guys are cycling fans apparently, and this beer was made with the idea of being tasty and refreshing while not having too big of an impact on their ability to complete the return leg of their cycling journey.

It pours a slightly cloudy (it is unfiltered), orange straw colour with a pleasantly fruity aroma.  And there is something else in the nose that gives a grainy, earthy note.  Google translate confirms that barley, wheat and oats are used in the malt bill.

At first there is a little sweetness, that gives way to a some noticeable hop bitterness and also a refreshing dryness as the beer progresses.  The mouthfeel is fairly lively, with a decent carbonation adding a little prickle to the sensation.  The hops aren’t super fruity, but you do get a nice little hit early on that seemed more like dried apricots or peaches to me.  Either way, I quite enjoyed this beer and it was gone before I knew it!
